St Andrews Birmingham is a 125 bedded adult mental healthcare facility comprises of eight units that cover medium and low security for both Men and Women. Located in Stirchley, a vibrant area in South Birmingham, easily accessible by road networks and public transport
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Registered Mental Health Nurses (RMNs / RNLD) to join our multidisciplinary team here at St Andrews Healthcare in Birmingham. You will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, patient centred care to individuals with complex mental health needs in a safe and therapeutic environment.
Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver and evaluate person-centred care plans tailored to individual patient needs
- Maintain a safe, secure and therapeutic ward environment
- Administer medication in line with professional guidelines
- Work collaboratively with psychiatrists, psychologists and other healthcare professionals
- Manage risk effectively, including de-escalation and safeguarding procedures
- Build therapeutic relationships with patients to support recovery and rehabilitation
- Maintain accurate clinical records and documentation
- Receive and provide clinical supervision
- Support the service to deliver specific outcome measures
- Complete required ward audits in line with the Clinical Governance strategy
Requirements
- Registered Nurse qualification (RMN/RNLD) with a valid NMC registration
- Experience in mental health or secure/forensic settings
- Completion of preceptorship - up to 2 years post qualification
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work under pressure and manage challenging behaviours
- Commitment to continuous professional development
