SCOPE AND RANGE

North Lincolnshire CAMHS forms part of the Children's Care Group. The Trust provides a comprehensive Adult, Child and Older Adult Mental Health Service to Rotherham, Doncaster and North Lincolnshire.

The post holder will be working within a large multidisciplinary team of doctors, nurses, social workers, psychologists, psychotherapists and creative therapists. The service receives referrals for young people up to the age of 18 from General Practitioners, Social Workers, Education and Paediatricians.

The post will be working in both generic CAMHS and ADHD.

Most of the clinical work will take place at the central clinical base. However, the post holder will be required to undertake assessments elsewhere, for example, Paediatric Wards, A &E, schools, GP surgeries, occasional home visits. Expectation is that 60% or more of work time is spent onsite.

The postholder will cross cover for non-Consultant doctors for annual leave etc.

The postholder will also contribute to writing repeat prescriptions and checking blood results.

There is a dedicated ADHD Team, led by an ADHD Specialist Prescribing Nurse. You may spend some time each week supporting the ADHD post diagnostic nursing team in prescribing and monitoring ADHD medication.

The postholder will attend one of the weekly Clinical MDTs, chaired by the Consultant Psychiatrists.

Main duties of the job

Principal Duties of the post-holder

o The post holder will be expected to provide appropriate care to patients within the North Lincolnshire area mainly through working closely with the multidisciplinary team through the assessment and treatment of appropriate patients.

o Provide consultation on individual cases where psychiatric opinion is needed to members of the multidisciplinary CAMHS team.

o Attend a weekly CAMHS MDT Clinical Meeting, in which the above patients are discussed.

o Attend multiagency meetings and Team around the Child etc as required.

o Provide first line psychiatric cover for urgent cases

o Provide medical support to the Nurse-led ADHD team. This will include prescribing and monitoring ADHD medication, alongside the ADHD nurses.

o Patient contact will take place mainly in outpatient clinics but may also occur in other community settings including A&E or paediatric wards. Appointments may also occur remotely via MS Teams or sometimes by telephone.

o Provide on-going monitoring and pharmacological treatments in ADHD, depression, OCD, etc.

o All practice will be supervised by a senior doctor or a specialist prescriber.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Be aware of the provision of Health and Safety at Work Act and maintain safe and therapeutic environment and practice.

Have a working knowledge of the Mental Health Act.

Ensure all mandatory training requirements are met including attendance at Cardiac pulmonary resuscitation, fire lectures and breakaway training. Operate within all national and local policies and procedures.

Update and develop clinical skills in childrens psychiatry.

Keep accurate, contemporaneous and clear records.

Be aware of and adhere to Child Protection guidelines and procedures ofthe Trustand the Area Child Protection Team.

Any other duties commensurate with the grade of the post, followingdiscussion with the Consultant Psychiatrist, the Service Manager andTeam Managers.

The post holder may be required to do joint visits or assessments withother members of the team . Travelling expenses will be paid accordingly. Ensure professional standards are maintained.

Liaise with other professionals and voluntary organisations.

Assist in training for students (e.g. nursing, occupational therapy,psychotherapyand medical).

Participate in monitoring and evaluating the quality and outcomes ofservicedelivery
