Reading Borough Council is seeking an experienced and proactive Property Officer - Supported Living to help ensure adults with care and support needs have access to safe, suitable and high-quality accommodation.

About the role
As Property Officer - Supported Living, you will work closely with landlords, housing providers, commissioners and Adult Social Care teams to improve accommodation standards across Reading. Key responsibilities include:
- Building and maintaining positive relationships with private landlords, registered providers and supported housing organisations.
- Carrying out property inspections to assess suitability and compliance with housing standards.
- Monitoring property safety documentation, including gas, electrical and fire safety requirements.
- Working with landlords and providers to resolve property issues and improve accommodation quality.
- Visiting tenants in their homes and providing reports and recommendations following inspections.
- Advising Adult Social Care teams on housing and accommodation-related matters.
- Supporting work linked to supported housing regulation and quality assurance.
- Producing monitoring reports, maintaining accurate records and identifying opportunities for service improvement.
- Assisting with landlord engagement activities, forums and awareness campaigns
About you
We're looking for someone who has:
- Experience working within housing, property management, supported housing or supported living.
- Experience of working with landlords, housing providers and partner agencies.
- Knowledge of housing standards, compliance requirements and property inspections.
- An understanding of Adult Social Care and the role housing plays in supporting independence.
- Strong communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and maintain accurate records.
- Excellent customer service skills and a proactive, solution-focused approach.
- Good IT skills and confidence working with electronic systems.
- A full driving licence and the ability to travel across Reading and surrounding areas when required
